Your biological makeup is unique and predicts your characteristics. But how much do you really know about your genes and DNA? Join ScienceFest at Newcastle City Library for a day of discovery into what makes you who you are.
Open to everyone. No subject knowledge or experience needed.
Events include:
Gene Machine
11am-12pm
Is genetic profiling simply a fantasy of science fiction writers? This will be explored through a short play where a chat show host interviews the inventor of an instantaneous genetic analyzer. The drama will be followed by a group discussion – who would you want to have access to your biological data?
Genes in a Bottle
1pm-2pm & 3pm-4pm
Turn your own DNA into a unique pendant for use on a necklace or keychain in this hour long workshop. Find out what DNA is and sample your own cheek cells.
Booking:
Tickets are free but booking is advised. Book online below, call 0191 2438232, or call into the City Library.
